The talk on the next movies of the biggies of tamil cinema is around. Kamal Haasan's Dasavatharam and Rajini's Sivaji. I am not too keen on the former and the latter is pretty much out of the scope of this blog, as of now. Not pinning much hopes on Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu either.
It's high time he goes ahead with his own next venture (a Raajkamal Production, that is).
I haven't seen any worthy tamil flicks in recent past (just some half-baked wannabe-cool movies like Arindhum Ariyaamalum and some clearcut B-flicks). The nearest ray of light I see is in the release of Bala's Naan Kadavul.

  1. i have hopes on vettaiyaadu velaiyaadu. i am surprised why u dont have good regard for that movie

  2. Yeah. Not that I have no hopes on "Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu". I am not pinning too much of hope on this flick which I see more of a Gautam's venture rather than a Kamal Haasan's venture. Slick, it's gonna be. But, I am not too sure if I ll relish it.
And personally, I feel Kamal, at this stage of his career, should do much better stuff than such ultra-slick cop movies. My comments on the movie were more an off-shoot of this feeling.

  3. watchout for a coupla movies.... some movie called "acharya" ,looked intresting.... and another one "oru kalloriyin kadhai" by the folks of cholamadal...

  4. Zero: Did you check out Ullam Ketkume? Heard it was decent...

  5. anti,
I did see Ullam Kaetkumae. To call it one of the better movies is to look at Tamil Cinema condescendingly and say, "Hey! At least they make 'different' movies". It didn't impress me much. Mainly for amateurish handling in most of the sequences. Eg.
    1. that Shyam's speech on the last day at the college
    2. its numerous references to KKHH :)
    3. The inter-college festival (ROFL stuff, if you see how the winning team actually receives the cup)
etc. Some of the performances made the setting appear very real, which otherwise is complete MTV'ish.

  6. /**continuing**/
There were some nicer aspects of the movie too. But as a whole it dint appeal to me as nice cinema. perhaps, i ll write on the movie in a separate post.

  7. Its true that next ray of light would be through Balaa's 'Naan Kadavul', but one should watch out for Cheran's 'Thavamaai Thavamirunthu' - to be released soon.
