Who is this bergman? Why is it when one dies even those who aren't aware of this guy pretend as if they were aware of his entire range of works?
I am not accusing you. I caught a friend talking about this death though he had no clue about the movies bergman made. Just like people speak about Satyajit Ray when they haven't even seen any of his movies.

It is called showboating. Something our 20-something Madras dudes are adept at(especially the Tambram -blog gumbal). If you tell someone that you have seen Stanley Kubrick and Kurosawa's works entirely or adore Tarkovsky or xxyyzz-sky or $$x^^7-lini's films , and listen only to Dire Straits and Pink Floyd(and Ilayaraja in tamil) you can portray yourself as some sort of an intellectual, no? Even if pseudo. Therein, lies the trick :-)
Bergman is death? I can't believe it, I hadn't idea of this till moment I read your post. The world is gonna miss him, specially for his extraordinary career and his nice personality. R.I.P dear Bergman
